Undamaged Side Window, Removing, A5 SPORTBACK

• Pay attention to the repair information. Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .

Procedure 

-- Remove the front roof trim molding. Refer to ROOF TRIM MOLDING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the C-pillar trim panel. Refer to C-PILLAR TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the D-pillar trim panel. Refer to D-PILLAR TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the door seal in the side window area.

-- Insert a cutting guard from the : 861 001A  inside between the cutting wire and trim panels.

-- Pull the : VAS861001/1A  with the threading tool -1- under the trim molding in direction of -arrow-.

-- Place the : VAS861001/1A  all around under the side window seal and secure on the end of the striker -2-.

-- Secure the upper side window using adhesive tape -1-.

-- Insert the free end of the : VAS861001/1A  in the piercing awl -1-.

TIP:

To prevent any damage, cover the entry zone of the piercing awl at the body flange with adhesive tape -arrow-.

-- Press the piercing awl in this area from the outside inward through the adhesive bead and preform the separation cut toward the inside.

-- Secure the removal device -1- with the reel device on the inside of the window.

-- Push the : VAS861001/1A  in the reel device and direct it over the hook -2-.

-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.

-- Cut the first section free. This will guide the cutting wire into the integrated idler roller on the reel device.

-- Offset the hook -2- and cut free the bottom of the rear side window using the removal device -1-. The locating pins are cut at the same time.

-- Offset the hook -2- and cut free the rear area of the rear side window using the removal device -1-. The locating pins are cut at the same time.

-- Remove the hook and cut free the upper area on the D-pillar using the removal device -1-.

-- Insert the hook -2- in the hole under the side window and cut free the upper end of the side window using the removal device -1-. The locating pins are cut at the same time.

-- Remove the side window carefully toward the rear from the roof trim molding connecting piece and remove.
