Brake Booster, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Switch off the ignition.
-- Reduce the vacuum in the brake booster by pressing the brake pedal repeatedly.
-- Disconnect the brake pedal from the brake booster. Refer to BRAKE PEDAL, DISCONNECTING FROM BRAKE BOOSTER .
-- Remove the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER BULKHEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the brake fluid reservoir. Refer to BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the connector -1- for the Vacuum Sensor -G608- and connector -4- for the Brake Lamp Switch -F-.
-- Remove the Vacuum Sensor -G608- -2-. Refer to BRAKE BOOSTER PRESSURE SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Pull the vacuum hose off of the brake booster and remove it; do not damage it while doing so.
-- To protect against escaping brake fluid, place enough lint-free cloths in the area below the brake booster.
Leaking brake fluid increases the risk of injury.
Risk of skin irritation and injury.
- Wear safety gloves.
-- Remove the union bolts -3- for the brake lines, then remove the brake lines from the brake master cylinder and move them slightly to the side.
Risk of destroying the brake lines by bending.
- Never change the shape of the brake lines.
-- Immediately seal the open connection points with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set :VAS6122 .
-- Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to WINDSHIELD WIPER ARMS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Hold the refrigerant line -1- upward.
-- Carefully pull the brake booster with the brake master cylinder forward and out of the plenum chamber, and then pivot it upward and out.
- Make sure that the actuator pin for the brake lamp and the pushrod do not fall into the brake booster.
