Fig 1: Coolant Expansion Tank

-- Reduce the residual pressure in the cooling system, briefly open the coolant expansion tank cap -1- by releasing the retainer in direction of -arrow-.

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Audi A4/A5:

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Cam Adjustment Actuator 6 -F371-, Cam Adjustment Actuator 7 -F372-, Cam Adjustment Actuator 8 -F373-. Refer to CAM ADJUSTMENT ACTUATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the nuts -1- from the front muffler accessible from the top.

-- Remove the nut -2- and bolt -3- for the front muffler.

-- Remove the front muffler bolts -arrows-. (Shown on the right.)

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and the bolt -2-.

-- Free up the wires and remove the heat shield -1- (example illustration).

-- Remove the bolt -1-.

-- Only loosen the bolts -2- and pivot the bracket -3- to the side.

-- Disconnect the coolant hose -2- with :3094 .

-- Loosen the hose clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose.

Audi A6/A7/Q5:

-- Remove the front muffler. Refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLE WITHOUT PARTICULATE FILTER .

-- Unlock the catch in direction of -arrow A- and release in direction of -arrow B-, and remove the vacuum hose -1-.

-- Lift up the clamps -1 and 2-, remove the coolant hoses and move to the side.

-- Remove and disconnect the connector -2- for the Oxygen Sensor 1 Before Catalytic Converter -GX10- -1- from the bracket.
