Balance Shaft Gasket, Replacing, Intake Side

Seal Installer, Intermediate Shaft: T10356/1

Procedure

-- Remove the coolant pump toothed belt. Refer to COOLANT PUMP TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

The drive wheel bolt has a left thread.

-- Remove the bolt -2- and then remove the drive wheel -1- for the coolant pump toothed belt.

-- Firmly press a screwdriver -1- on the surface of the sealing ring -2- in direction of -arrow B-.

-- Pry out the sealing ring in direction of -arrow A-.

-- Clean the contact and sealing surface.

-- Coat the sealing surface of the balance shaft -2- with transmission fluid.

-- Push the sealing ring -1- onto the balance shaft.

The labeling "inside" -arrow- must point to the engine.

The drive wheel bolt has a left thread.

-- Mount the Seal Installer - Intermediate Shaft: T10353/1 on the seal -1- and then tighten it carefully all the way into the cylinder block with the bolt -2-. Be careful not to tilt the seal when doing this.

-- Install the coolant pump toothed belt. Refer to COOLANT PUMP TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
