Pistons, Removing And Installing: Removing

- The engine is secured to the engine and transmission holder. Refer to ENGINE, SECURING TO ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HOLDER .
-- Remove the cylinder head. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the oil pan upper section. Refer to OIL PAN UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Mark the installation position and allocation:
- Pistons to cylinder.
- Connecting rod to cylinder -item ) Connecting Rod.
- Connecting rod bearing cap to connecting rod -item ) Connecting Rod Bearing Cap.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the connecting rod bearing cap -1-.
- Do not damage the cracked surfaces of the connecting rods and connecting rod bearing caps.
-- Remove the piston with the connecting rod upward.
TIP:
If difficult to move, heat the pistons to approximately 60 °C (140 °F).
-- Remove the circlip -2- from the piston pin eye.
-- Remove the piston pin -3- using the : VW222A .
-- Remove the pistons -1- from the connecting rod -4-.
