Workshop findings:
- A test plan is populated in ODIS and marked with the following symbol:
- When executing a test plan in ODIS, the following message is displayed:
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Certain DTCs may be entered in the vehicle due to incorrect or oversensitive self-diagnostic checks. In those cases, these DTCs are marked as "Unauthorized" in ODIS and are considered to be ghost faults.
Those DTCs do not have any impact on the operation of the vehicle and do not cause any customer complaints, even if they may appear to be related to a specific customer complaint.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Not applicable.
SERVICE
Running a test plan for an "Unauthorized" or "Unjustified" DTC will not resolve the customer complaint, as those DTCs are entered erroneously by the vehicle and have no effect on its operation.
If you see a test plan populate that has the "warning" symbol and shows the "Unauthorized DTC memory entries" message box when selecting the test plan, please do not continue executing said test plan (see Figure 2).
Do not replace any parts for unauthorized/unjustified DTCs!
Any unauthorized test plans run, as well as any repairs resulting from running such test plans may be debited by warranty.
WARRANTY
This TSB is informational only and not applicable to any Audi Warranty.
