CONDITION
Customer states:
The 12V socket and/or the cigarette lighter are not working.
Workshop findings:
During diagnosis, the fuse to the 12V outlet is found blown.
The following DTC may is stored in the onboard supply control unit, J519 (address word 0009):
- DTC U141500 Terminal 30-5, open circuit.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Devices connected to the 12V sockets must not exceed a power rating of 120W. Additionally, it is not permitted to connect multiple devices to the 12V sockets in the vehicle even with an adapter (refer to vehicle Owner's Manual).
Due to an excessive load, the overload protection in the adapter or component melts and causes a short circuit, which trips the vehicle fuse.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Not applicable.
SERVICE
Please check whether a short circuit can be measured at the 12V sockets. If no short circuit is detected replace the fuse and advise the customer of the power ratings of the 12V sockets.
