CONDITION
Customer statement:
Intelligent coasting does not work.
Workshop findings:
Coasting is activated on the MMI but only works when the cruise control system is switched on.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND 1
To avoid coasting phases which are too short, the coasting function is deactivated by the manufacturer on vehicles without navigation system and front radar. It cannot be activated.
Restarts after short coasting phases could have noticeable effects for the driver such as juddering or deceleration.
The function is activated when the cruise control system is switched on as it is assumed in this case that the vehicle will be travelling at a constant speed for an extended period.
