Customer states:
- The air conditioning system in the vehicle cools insufficiently or does not cool at all.
- The AC button is flashing.
Workshop findings:
- The refrigerant circuit is very low or empty of refrigerant. A refrigerant leak diagnosis finds a leak at any refrigerant component connection that employs an o-ring seal. A faulty o-ring seal is determined as the root cause and replaced.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
When an o-ring is found as the root cause of a refrigerant leak and subsequently replaced, it is not possible to track the location of the leak by the part number of the replaced o-ring. Many of the o-rings in the refrigerant circuit are used in several different locations. More specific documentation is necessary in an attempt to track a possible product quality issue.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Not applicable.
SERVICE
When replacing an o-ring seal anywhere in the refrigerant circuit in the course of repairing a refrigerant circuit leak:
- Ensure that the exact location of the o-ring seal being replaced is specifically documented in the warranty claim notes in SAGA.
- Document the refrigerant component connection being repaired in a photo/video that clearly shows the location of the connection being repaired; upload this documentation to Doc-IT.
