- Documentation of optical complaints on the vehicle.
- The customer statement can be reproduced and a documentation with one or several photos is necessary so it can be demonstrated.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND 1
- The first photo should show a full picture of the affected component and the affected area of the cause should be marked with an arrow. This is for guidance.
The arrows for printing and cutting out are attached.
Please do not place whole pages (e.g. the order) on the component and take a photo. The photo of the component is generally underexposed as the camera exposure is focused on the white paper. As a result, the measure is difficult or impossible to see.
- The second photo shows a close-up of the complaint, as focused as possible and sufficiently lit.
The workshop findings should contain a short text.
For example: "Shining surface, cannot be removed by cleaning."
To ensure a reference to the vehicle every photo must include the vehicle identification number and the date. With close-ups the vehicle identification number may not fully fit on the photo, this is no problem.
The photo must not be edited later.
If your camera can include the date in the photo as shown in the example, the date on the arrow is not necessary.
If another TSB applies, it must be used for the repair and for the accounting.
If there are no photos the claim may be rejected.
- What is an optical complaint?
- An optical complaint is a change on the component which is not the standard condition and a defect in the sense of warranty.
Dents or shrink marks, flaking-off paint or chrome in the passenger compartment or outside on the trim strips, discoloring or wavy components can only be accounted, if a fault in the material or workmanship is absolutely certain.
Complaints such as scratches, torn or broken components or scratches on windows due to external causes are no fault in the sense of warranty.
Screen issues such as pixel errors or stripes on the instrument cluster, MMI screen or AC control panel are not optical complaints and therefore not covered by this TSB.
- An optical complaint is a change on the component which is not the standard condition and a defect in the sense of warranty.
- General rules:

- A TAC contact is not necessary.
- The photos should be in focus and be taken with sufficient light A high resolution is not necessary.
