CONDITION
Customer states:
Scenario 1.: During an I/M Inspection or Emissions Test, the Permanent DTC memory was read out and a "Mode$0A entry", matching one or more of the DTCs below, was found in the gearbox control unit.
and/or
Scenario 2.: The gearbox warning lamp lights up in the instrument cluster.
Workshop findings:
One of the following event memory entries (static/intermittent) is logged in the gearbox electronics control unit (diagnostic address 0002). The event memory entry can be worked on in accordance with Guided Fault Finding and erased at the end of diagnosis. In addition to this, one of these event memory entries is logged in the area "permanent event memory entries" (OBD mode $0A).

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND 1
Customers who have not failed an I/M inspection are unlikely to be affected by this issue.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Not applicable.
SERVICE
The 0002 control unit software needs to be updated on this vehicle only after all mechanical repairs have been made to remedy the cause of the DTC . Any underlying mechanical issue causing the storage of the DTC's is not covered under this TSB or the U750 Warranty Extension Program.
Explain to the customer that various control units must be reconfigured after the software update to ensure that they function correctly in conjunction with other control units in the vehicle. Components which have been retrofitted in the vehicle but have not been entered in the vehicle equipment list via feedback documentation (version compare) to the SVM may not function correctly after the configuration process.
Ask the customer whether they have had non-genuine components retrofitted on the vehicle or modifications carried out by third parties (e.g. tuning) or are aware of any such retrofits or modifications. Inform the customer that, if non-genuine retrofits or modifications have been carried out on the vehicle by third parties, neither Audi of America nor your own company will accept liability for any damage that may be caused by updating the software, or by failing to do so. Make a note to this effect on the job order before it is signed by the customer and put the information in the customer file.
The software for the gearbox control unit must be updated on this vehicle. Please observe the information under "Customer information" with regard to this.
Scenario 1: During an I/M Inspection or Emissions Test, the Permanent DTC memory was read out and a "Mode$0A entry", matching one or more of the DTCs below, was found in the gearbox control unit.
Scenario 2: There is an event memory entry in the gearbox electronics control unit which can initially be worked on and erased in accordance with Guided Fault Finding. However, the "Mode$0A entry" must also be erased as a separate step as it remains logged in the Permanent DTC memory.
Before performing the following work, check whether there are any other TSBs for the event memory entries. If so, complete these TSBs first.
To erase the "Mode$0A entry", the gearbox control units (DL382, DL501 and DQ500) must be updated.
The procedures described below apply to the individual gearbox types.
All flashing procedures must be performed using the corresponding SVM code. Make sure that the correct gearbox is selected, and the software version is correct.
Procedure for DL382 gearbox (only one SVM code is necessary):
| Gearbox series | SVM for all software part numbers |
|---|---|
| DL382/DL382E | 02A231 |
Procedure for DL501 gearbox:
For the DL501 gearbox, it may be necessary to perform a reverse update to a lower version before the target version can be installed. The table below lists only the software versions which render a second flashing procedure necessary.
Software part numbers with a lower software version are not listed; a single flashing procedure using the SVM code 02A233 is sufficient for these.

Procedure for DQ500 gearbox:
For the DQ500 gearbox, it is first necessary to perform a reverse update to a lower version for the software part number specified below. The update to the target version can then be performed.
| Software part number | Software version | Reverse update with SVM | Update to target version with SVM |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0DL 906 558 L | 0562 | 02A232 | 02A233 |
