CONDITION
The customer complains about the visual appearance of leather or leatherette seat covers.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND 1
Visual issues are e.g. dirt, discoloration or abrasion. These can be caused by insufficient care or mechanical damage, for example. However, there may also be a fault in the leather or an assembly-related issue.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
To assess the fault, we recommend using the catalogue "Assessment of leather and coated textiles in automotive interior".
The catalogue can be ordered at: mailbox@filkfreiberg.de www.filkfreiberg.de
For proper care, cleaning and repair work, we recommend using the repair kit VAS 894 001 (order number ASE 89400190000).
SERVICE
The catalogue "Assessment of leather and coated textiles in automotive interior" helps with the assessment of visual complaints. It can be used as an aid when talking to customers and helps when making decisions on the further procedure. The information collected in the catalogue also improves service employees' knowledge of the material. The leather assessment catalogue also provides information relating to basic knowledge, an overview of potential damage scenarios and the features of leather and leatherette as well as tips about cleaning, care and repair.
It must be assessed whether a fault covered by the warranty is involved or whether the customer is at fault. The complaint must always be documented with photos clearly showing the issue.
As a general rule, it is preferable to repair the affected seat covers rather than replacing them.
If it is not possible to perform repairs in the dealership using VAS 894 001, the work may be outsourced to a service provider in exceptional cases and must be billed for as leather work.
WARRANTY
This TSB is informational only and not applicable to any Audi Warranty.
