Bearing Bracket, Disassembling And Assembling: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Press Plate :VW402 
• Press Piece - Rod :VW411 
• Press Piece - 28x100mm :VW421 
• Press Piece - Bushing - 50mm Diameter :VW432 
• Puller - Transmission Gears - Thrust Piece :T10309/5 
• Hot Air Blower :V.A.G 1416  or Wiring Harness Repair Set - Hot Air Blower :VAS1978/14A 

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Extracting Tool :T40413 

Disassembling

Press out the shaft for the reverse gear intermediate sprocket 1

2 -  Press Piece - Rod :VW411 

3 -  Gearbox Assembly Tool - Adapter :T40213/9 

4 -  Press Plate :VW402 

• Remove the locking ring -Item  1- beforehand.

-- Remove the reverse gear intermediate sprocket, needle bearing and thrust washers from the bearing bracket.

Drive out the input shaft ball bearing 1

2 -  Press Piece - Bushing - 50mm Diameter :VW432 

• Reverse gear intermediate sprocket is removed. Refer to Fig 2.
• Remove the bolts -Item  6- beforehand and remove the retaining plate for the bearing -Item  7-.
• Tension the bearing bracket in a vise.

Drive out the output shaft ball bearing 1

2 -  Press Piece - Bushing - 50mm Diameter :VW432 

• Remove the locking ring -Item  16- beforehand.
• Tension the bearing bracket in a vise.
