Outer Rear Three-Point Seat Belt, Removing And Installing, Sedan: Removing
Risk of injury due to involuntary deployment.
- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Observe the disposal regulations for pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the outer rear belt end fitting. Refer to REAR OUTER BELT END FITTING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the rear shelf. Refer to REAR SHELF, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the noise insulation for the automatic belt retractor.
-- Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, SEDAN .
-- Remove the seat belt webbing -1- from the rear seat belt guide -3-.
-- Do so by lifting up the C-pillar trim panel -2- slightly, guide the seat belt webbing over the seat belt guide ridge in direction of -arrow-, and guide it out through the gap between the trim panel and seat belt guide.
Risk of injury due to involuntary deployment.
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Disconnect the connector -3- by releasing the connector lock with a small screwdriver.
-- Loosen the bolt -1- approximately seven turns.
-- Push the three-point seat belt -2- toward the rear -arrow-, disengage it from the mount and remove it.
