GAP DIMENSION BETWEEN BELT AND CLUTCH PLATE, CHECKING, "Sanden" A/C COMPRESSOR (WITH A/C CLUTCH -N25-)
- The gap dimension must be within the permissible range over the entire circumference.
- Gap dimension may also be measured with A/C compressor installed.
- If the gap dimension is outside of the permissible range, first remove the clutch plate and then remove or insert spacers to attain the correct dimension. Refer to OVERVIEW - A/C COMPRESSOR BELT PULLEY WITH A/C Clutch -N25-, "Sanden" .
Procedure
- The nut -F- for securing the drive unit of the clutch plate -A- is tightened with the correct tightening specification on the A/C compressor shaft -E-. Refer to OVERVIEW - A/C COMPRESSOR BELT PULLEY WITH A/C Clutch -N25-, "Sanden" .
-- Measure the dimension of the belt pulley -B- with the clutch plate -A- with a slide ruler -C- at three places on the clutch plate -A- circumference (write down the measured values and dimension "1").
-- On the lines -D- to the solenoid coil in the connector -G- (here the contact "3") create a voltage of 12 V.
- Depending on the A/C compressor version, the connector -G- can be designed as a 1-pin or 3-pin connector. On a 3-pin connector, both wires to the A/C Compressor Regulator Valve -N280- are also housed in this connector.
- There are different versions of the connector -G-. This illustration shows an A/C compressor on which the solenoid coil and the A/C Compressor Regulator Valve -N280- are connected to the vehicle wiring harness via a 3-pin connector. Refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram.
-- Connect the ground to the compressor housing -E-.
-- Measure the dimension of the belt pulley -B- with the clutch plate -A- with a slide ruler -C- at three places on the clutch plate -A- circumference (write down the measured values as dimension "2").
-- From the measured values (actual average of the dimension "1" and "2") calculate the gap dimension.
Specified value for gap dimension: 0.35 to 0.65 mm (up to 0.8 mm on a previously used A/C clutch).
