Coolant Shut-Off Valve -N82-, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Switch off the ignition.
The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is warm. There is a risk of scalding from hot steam and coolant.
Scalding the skin and other parts of the body is possible.
- Wear safety gloves.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Reduce the pressure by covering the coolant expansion tank cap with a cloth and carefully opening it.
-- Carefully open the coolant expansion tank cap -A- (do not completely remove).
TIP
- There are different versions of the coolant expansion tank and in different layouts in the plenum chamber and in the engine compartment. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .
-- Remove the plenum chamber cover. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Cover the area under the connections for the coolant hoses -B and C- to the Coolant Shut-Off Valve -N82- -A- in the plenum chamber for example with absorbent paper.
-- Clamp off the coolant hoses -B and C- with Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm :3094 (or commercially available hose pinch-off pliers).
-- Loosen the hose clamps -D- and remove the coolant hoses -B and C-.
-- Disconnect the connector -E-.
-- Remove the nuts -G- and bolts -F-.
-- Remove the shut-off valve -A- with the bracket -D-.
-- If necessary remove the combination nut -J- and bracket -K-.
TIP
- On the Audi Q5 the bracket -K- is only bolted with two combination nuts -J-.
