Pinion, Removing And Installing: Removing
- The output gear of the spur gear unit as well as the parking lock gear is removed. Refer to Fig 2.
- Differential with ring gear is removed. Refer to DIFFERENTIAL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Vehicles with self-locking center differential: remove inner output shaft. Refer to Inner Output Shaft Roller Bearing, Removing, Vehicles with Self-Locking Center Differential .
-- Remove the circlip -1-.
- When removing the pinions -3- remove the shim -2- to that they are not bonded in the groove all around the transmission housing.
Remove the pinion 7
1 - Spindle from Puller (Kukko 18/2): VAS 251 419
2 - Nut
3 - Thrust bearing from Subframe Bushing Tool Kit: 3301
4 - Press Piece - Front Wishbone: 3160
5 - Support Bridge: 2011
6 - Bearing Installer - Front Wheel Bearing: 3110
- The total height of the nut -8- and washer -9- may not be over 12 mm -dimension a-.
- The spindle -1- and the nut -8- must not contact the clutch housing -arrow B-.
-- Then remove the pinion -7- over the nut -2-. At the same time counterhold on the hex fitting -arrow A- of the spindle -1-.
-- Remove the shim "S 3 ".
