All-Wheel Drive Clutch Oil, Draining And Filling: Notes
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit: SMN372500
- Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler Kit: VAS 6617
- Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler - Adapter: VAS 6617/11
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
- Protective Eyewear
ATF, Draining
- The vehicle must be level
- ATF specification. Refer to the Parts Information.
- When ATF is replaced, the >>oil age adaptation values<< in the All-Wheel Drive Control Module -J492- must always be reset to new ATF. Refer to Oil Age Adaptation Values, Resetting .
-- Remove the rear noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Vehicles with vibration damper:
-- Remove the bolts -B arrows- and the heat shield -2-.
-- Remove the bolts -A arrows- and push the vibration damper rearward over the driveshaft.
All Vehicles:
-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit: SMN372500 underneath.
-- Remove the ATF drain plug -2- and let the ATF drain out.
ATF, Filling
- So that the ATF flows into all of the spaces in the all-wheel drive clutch when adding oil, the ATF drain plug -2- must be unscrewed approximately five turns -a-.
- Dimension -a- is approximately 5 mm or five turns.
-- Screw on the ATF drain plug -2- all the way and then unscrew again five turns.
-- Remove the ATF fill plug -1-.
-- Add ATF slowly using the Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler Kit: VAS 6617 and Pressurized Gearbox Oil Filler Kit - Adapter: VAS 6617/11 .
- The ATF level is correct when the all-wheel drive clutch is filled up to the lower edge of the oil fill hole.
-- Tighten the ATF fill plug -1- and the ATF drain plug -2-.
Tightening Specifications
Vehicles with vibration damper:
-- Tighten the vibration damper -1- with bolts -A arrows-.
-- Tighten the heat shield -2- with bolts -B arrows-.
- Tightening specifications. Refer to OVERVIEW - ALL-WHEEL DRIVE CLUTCH .
All Vehicles:
-- Install the rear noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- After ATF is replaced, the >>oil age adaptation values<< in the All-Wheel Drive Control Module -J492- must be reset to new ATF as follows.
