Overview - Driveshaft: Notes

  1. Transmission
  2. Clamp
  3. Driveshaft
  4. Bolt

    M8 or M10 bolts

    • Always replace.
    • M8 bolts are self-locking. Because the threads in the flange shaft on the rear final drive must be cleaned of locking fluid residue. Use a thread tap to clean.
    • Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
  5. Locking Plate
    • Always replace.
  6. Seal
    • Always replace.
    • Clean the flange shaft and position the seal
    • Ignore different colored sides when installing
  7. Rear Final Drive

    Removing and Installing. Refer to FINAL DRIVE .

  8. Intermediate Bearing
    • Install the alignment pin in the hole on the underbody and tighten.
  9. Bolt
    • 20 Nm
  10. Bolt
    • 28 Nm
  11. Heat Shield
    • Not installed on all versions

Driveshaft to rear final drive - tightening specification and sequence

-- Tighten the bolts -1- in three steps:

Step Bolts Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
I. -1-
  • Bolt -M8- → next to the color dot: 30 Nm 1)
  • Bolt -M10- → next to the color dot: 50 Nm 1)
II. -1-
  • Bolt -M8- → Next 30 Nm
  • Bolt -M10- → Next 50 Nm
III. -1-
  • All screws around 90° additional turn
  • 1) By doing this, the CV joint is pushed slightly to the opposite side and imbalance is avoided.
