Rear Final Drive, Removing And Installing, AUDI A4 AVANT, A4 ALLROAD With Panoramic Glass Roof

Tip

• Vehicles with a panoramic glass roof have additional diagonal braces and retainers for them.
• The entire rear axle must be removed because of the retainers.

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Shop Crane: VAS 6100

Final Drive, Removing: 

Pay attention to the general repair information. Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .

• Rear subframe is removed. Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME .

-- Remove the left and right drive axles from the rear final drive. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Engage the rear final drive -1- on the Shop Crane: VAS 6100  with the Tensioning Strap: T10038  as shown.

-- Separate the threaded connection -3-, remove the nut -2- and remove the auxiliary mount -4-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the rear final drive from the rear subframe.

Final Drive, Installing: 

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

• Tightening specifications. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

Additional work for vehicles with "quattro sport"

• If the rear final drive 0BX "quattro sport" or 0D3 "quattro sport" is replaced, additional work is necessary. Refer to ADDITIONAL WORK AFTER REPLACING FINAL DRIVE 0D3 "quattro sport" AND 0BX "quattro sport" .

Additional work for vehicles with "quattro ultra"

• If the rear final drive 0B0 "quattro ultra" or 09R "quattro ultra" was replaced, then additional work is necessary. Refer to ADDITIONAL WORK FOR VEHICLES WITH "quattro ultra" .
