Parking Brake, Manually Loosening
Due to a mechanical or electrical malfunction, it may be required to manually loosen the parking brake in order to move the vehicle.
Procedure
Risk of accident!
- Before removing the parking brake motor, secure the vehicle from rolling.
-- Loosen the parking brake.
-- Switch off the ignition.
-- Remove the rear wheel. Refer to Wheels and Tires .
-- Disconnect the connector -3- for the parking brake motor.
-- Open the clip -2- and free up the brake pad wear indicator sensor wire.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
Hold the parking brake motor securely when loosening the bolts -arrows-.
The motor can turn by itself on its input shaft when loosening the bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the parking brake motor -1- from the brake caliper.
-- Remove the seal.
-- Using a TORX® 45 socket -arrow-, turn the driveshaft back until the brake is loosened.
After eliminating the fault, install the parking brake motor. Refer to LEFT AND RIGHT PARKING BRAKE MOTOR -V282- / -V283-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
When reinstalling the parking brake motor, do not forget to insert the seal on the parking brake motor again. Refer to LEFT AND RIGHT PARKING BRAKE MOTOR -V282- / -V283-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
