Brake Caliper, Replacing, Ceramic Brakes: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:
- Clean the bolts and nuts before reusing.
- Replace damaged bolts and nuts.
- Replace the self-locking bolts and nuts after removal.
-- Install the brake pads. Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, CERAMIC BRAKES .
-- Move the bracket -3- with the brake hose into its installation position and tighten the union bolt -1- and bolts -2-.
- Make sure the brake hose is routed correctly.
- Make sure the brake hose is not pinched, bent, twisted or rubbing against the vehicle.
-- Bring the brake pad wear sensor into its installation position on the bracket and turn it in the direction of the -arrow- until the tab -2- engages in the hole -3- on the bracket.
-- Connect the connector -1-.
-- Remove the Brake Pedal Actuator :VAG1869/2 .
-- Only bleed the brakes on the wheel from which the brake caliper and the brake hose was loosened. Refer to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, BLEEDING .
- If the brake pedal still feels "soft", completely bleed the brakes. Refer to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, BLEEDING .
-- Check brake fluid level, and fill if necessary.
Faulty brakes increase the risk of an accident.
- Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
-- With the vehicle stationary, firmly press the brake pedal several times so that the brake pads in the operating condition properly sit in their respective position.
