Damaged Rear Window, Removing
- Pay attention to the repair information. Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .
Procedure
A4 Sedan:
-- Remove the D-pillar trim panel. Refer to D-PILLAR TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the high-mounted brake lamp. Refer to HIGH-MOUNTED BRAKE LAMP BULB, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the nut -item ) Nut for the rear window ground connections.
A4 Avant:
-- Remove the spoiler. Refer to SPOILER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the rear lid trim panel. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM PANELS .
-- Remove the rear window wiper motor. Refer to REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR -V12-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
A5 Coupe:
-- Remove the rear shelf. Refer to REAR SHELF, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Use the : T40172C with the : T40172/1 to remove the expanding rivet -1-.
-- Remove the rear window frame trim panel -2-.
-- Remove the nut -item ) Nut for the right and left ground connection from the rear window.
A5 Sportback:
-- Remove the rear lid upper trim panel. Refer to REAR LID UPPER TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Continuation:
Risk of injury to the hands and eyes from glass fragments.
Getting cut is possible.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Wear safety gloves.
-- Protect the body and vehicle interior from glass splinters.
-- Remove the glass pieces up to the adhesive.
-- Tape off the flange all the way around with fabric-reinforced adhesive tape.
-- Cut through the adhesive (with glass remnants) in the opening for the window using a : VAG1561A and : VAG1561/10 (with stopper roll).
