- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fasten the front seat on the : VAS6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Remove the tunnel-side seat side trim. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON TUNNEL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the seat side trim on the side sill side. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON SIDE SILL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD SEAT, CHINA VERSION .
-- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD SEAT, CHINA VERSION .
-- Disengage the elastic strap -1 and 2- from the bottom of the seat pan.
-- Disengage the molding -arrows A through C- from the back of the backrest frame.
-- Loosen the cover -1- with cushion -2- from the backrest frame and remove carefully under the backrest forward in direction of -arrows-.
-- Pull the cover with the lower cushion as far away as possible from the backrest frame.
Version 1:
Courtesy of AUDI OF AMERICA, LLC-- Mark the angle adjustment of the left and right backrest hinges on the front seat as follows:
-- Apply mark -arrow B- to the backrest frame with a waterproof marker -2- directly at the front edge -arrow A- of the hinge -1-.
-- Remove nut -3- on the adjustment shaft -4-.
-- Push the cover and cushion to the side and remove the bolt -arrow-.
-- Push the adjustment shaft -3- out of the backrest frame toward the tunnel side and remove it.
-- Remove the backrest adjustment motor -2- and disconnect the connector -1-.
Version 2:
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- (tunnel side) and push the adjustment shaft out of the backrest frame toward the side sill side.
-- Push the cover and cushion to the side and remove the bolt -arrow-.
-- Pull the adjustment shaft -3- out of the backrest hinge (tunnel side) and the mount in the backrest adjustment motor. Do not completely remove it.
-- Remove the backrest adjustment motor -2- and disconnect the connector -1-.
