Front Backrest, Removing And Installing: Removing

- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fasten the front seat on the : VAS6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Remove the tunnel-side seat side trim. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON TUNNEL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the seat side trim on the side sill side and remove the bracket:
- Standard/Sport seat/Super Sport seat. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON SIDE SILL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the connectors from the wiring harnesses for the backrest and free up the disconnected wiring harnesses. Refer to MODULAR WIRING ROUTING, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
The wiring harness between the connector station and the thorax airbag is continuous.
-- Equipped on some models: disconnect the pneumatic line -2- from the compressor -1- by pressing the release ring in direction of -arrows-.
-- Free up the pneumatic line.
-- Remove the left and right bolts -1 and 3- from the backrest hinge.
-- Remove the backrest from the seat pan while carefully guiding out the wiring harnesses at the same time.
