Spoiler, Removing And Installing, RS 5: Installing
- The vehicle and the spoiler must be at room temperature.
- The adhesive surfaces must be free of dirt and grease.
- Cut the adhesive bead back/evenly just before installing, but do not completely remove.
- Do not prime or use a cleaning solution on the adhesive bead.
- The spoiler must be attached within 15 minutes of applying the adhesive.
-- Remove the adhesive residue from the body.
-- Cut back the residue of the adhesive bead with a cutting blade just before installing the window spoiler, but do not remove all of it.
TIP:
The residue acts as a base for the adhesive to be applied.
-- Position the spoiler -2- on the rear lid -1- according to the following dimensions and if necessary mark the installation position.
RS 5 Coupe:
- Dimension -a- = 316 mm
- Dimension -b- = 370 mm
- Dimension -c- = 41 mm
RS 5, Sportback:
- Dimension -a- = 338 mm
- Dimension -b- = 300 mm
- Dimension -c- = 47 mm
TIP:
The dimension -c- corresponds to the side distance of the extended dimension -b- along the rear lid edge.
-- Clean the adhesive surface from the adhesive tape on the body with Cleaning Solution: D 009 401 04 and let it dry.
-- Clean the adhesive surface on the spoiler with Cleaning Solution: D 009 401 04 and let it dry.
-- Fold back the end of the protective film, or attach a pulling aid -1- to the protective film.
-- Apply an adhesive bead of One-Part MS Assembly Adhesive: D 172 090 A2 centered in the adhesive bed over the entire area to be riveted on the spoiler -2-.
- Dimension -a- = 5 mm ± 1.5 mm
- Dimension -b- = 4 mm ± 1 mm
-- Position the spoiler -4- according to the label applied on the rear lid -3- with a second technician and align at the sides.
-- Remove the protective film on the removal aid -1- from the inside outward.
-- Press on the spoiler first on the outer edge and then on the inner edge over the entire length.
- Vehicle resting time is at least 24 hours at room temperature.
