-- Remove the voltage regulator. Refer to VOLTAGE REGULATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - HITACHI GENERATOR .

-- Check the length -a- of the carbon brushes -1-.

• Wear limit: -a- = 6.5 mm.
