CONDITION

Customer statement/workshop findings: 

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND 1

If the clutch end cover is not fitted exactly as described in the Workshop Manual, a repeat repair will be necessary due to leaks at the clutch end cover. Damage/scoring on the gearbox housing or eccentric motion of the dual clutch can also be responsible for the leak.

PRODUCTION SOLUTION

Not applicable.

SERVICE

Fit the clutch end cover exactly as described in the Workshop Manual. Make sure the sealing lips are installed correctly. Leaks may occur if the sealing lip on the inside of the clutch end cover is not brought into the correct shape or is folded outwards when fitting the cover (see Figure 4).

Leak on outer sealing lip of clutch end cover:

Possible causes: 

Leaks at outer sealing lip of clutch end cover.

New clutch end cover fitted incorrectly.

Damage to gearbox housing in area of outer sealing lip.

Eccentric motion of dual clutch, resulting in leak at oil seal for clutch end cover:

The maximum permissible deviation in run-out is 0.25 mm.
