NOTICE
WARNINGS:
Using application programs when driving can be distracting.
If the driver is distracted, this can lead to accidents and injuries.
Observe the road traffic regulations in your country.
Danger due to the transport of unsecured test equipment.
If test equipment is transported unsecured or in the range of airbags, this could cause injuries in certain maneuvers or in the event of an accident.
Make sure that the test equipment is secured properly.
Do not transport test equipment in areas in which airbags inflate.
If possible, use test equipment on the rear seat bench. If there is no rear seat bench, the test equipment must only be readable by the passenger and must be secured so that it can only be operated by the passenger.
Move the passenger seat as far back as possible.
They have priority over any driving instructions.
Always perform a road test with a second person who operates the test equipment.
Make sure that test equipment in the vehicle does not distract the driver.
Using the application programs while driving can cause distraction from events in traffic.
Accidents and injury may occur if the driver is distracted.
Adhere to the traffic laws in your country. These take precedence over any instructions for driving.
Always perform a test drive with a second person who can operate test and measuring devices.
Transport testing and measuring devices in the vehicle in such a way that they do not distract the driver while driving.
Danger from the transportation of unsecured testing and measuring devices.
If testing and measuring devices are transported in an unsecured manner or get close to the airbags, it may lead to injuries in the event of an accident or certain driving maneuvers.
Ensure that testing and measuring devices are in order.
Do not transport testing and measuring devices within reach of the airbags.
Use the testing and measuring devices on the back seat when possible. If there is no back seat, testing and measuring devices may only be readable for the front passenger and must be securely fastened so that they can only be operated by the passenger. The front passenger seat must be put back to the furthest position.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
There are different techniques and options to analyze noises or vibrations. This TSB describes the measurement options using the VAS 611 015 PICO NVH tool.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
The following information is attached to this TSB:
- The analysis guidelines for using the PICO-NVH tool for noise analysis.
- The analysis guidelines for the measuring points on the transmission.
- Audi e-tron GT measurement positions for standard powertrain measurements
- Audi e-tron measurement positions for standard powertrain measurements
- Audi Q8 e-tron PU measurement positions for standard powertrain measurements
- Audi checklist for vehicle noise complaints
- Notes on procurement of and support for VAS 611 015 (see Parts information)
- Software download/support/information: website: https://vas.picoauto.com/(password: Quattr#8)
- A description is included in the attachments (password and software).
- Important note about measurements on Audi e-tron vehicles:
For measurements on Audi e-tron vehicles, it is important that you install the newest PICO software version in advance as otherwise you will not be able to record a vehicle speed signal via the on-board diagnosis adapter. The electric drive motor speed cannot always be recorded with PICO in Audi e-tron vehicles (depending on the specific vehicle), but the vehicle speed can be recorded with the corresponding software.
Please always install the most recent PICO software for measurements on e-tron vehicles. Regular updates for these can be found at: https://vas.picoauto.com/(password: Quattr#8). In the PICO software, you must then select the setting "EV " (which stands for "electric vehicle") when connecting the on-board diagnosis adapter VAS 6154.
The software and instructions to connect the VAS 6154 to VAS 611 015 PICO NVH Tool can be found at: be found at: ELSA 2 Go >> Infomedia Service references >> Software/Hardware Updates >> Search "PICO".
SERVICE
It is possible to detect the sources of noises and vibrations more precisely via acceleration sensors and/or microphones. Information such as engine speed and vehicle speed, which is required for subsequent analysis, is recorded in addition to the noise recording via the OBD adapter VAS 6154.
The attachments also include a log for measurement and diagnostic drives for support and documentation!!!
This is not compulsory documentation and not relevant for audits!!!
Audi e-tron vehicles:
Ensure that the newest PICO software version is installed, otherwise a vehicle speed signal cannot be recorded via the on-board diagnosis adapter.
In the PICO software, the setting "EV" must be selected when connecting the on-board diagnosis adapter VAS 6154.
The attached guidelines answer many questions and can be used to provide support and practical instructions on using the VAS 611 015 PICO NVH Tool.
The following is attached to this TSB (Figure 1, 2):
- The Guidelines for acoustic analysis with the Pico NVH kit for noise analysis.
- The analysis guidelines for the measuring points on the transmission.
- Connecting VAS 6154 to PICO NVH tool VAS 611 015.
Required software can be found via Service Net:
