SERVICE

For DTC's that are statically stored, continue with normal diagnosis, in this case the TSB does not apply.

NOTE: Replacing the tank pressure sender will not fix the problem.

For DTC's that are stored sporadically, the wire harness will need to be modified using the steps below.

  1. Remove plenum chamber covers (green arrows, Figure 1)

Release wiring harness securing clips (yellow arrows, Figure 1).

Using a seam ripper, expose the wiring harness as shown in Figure 2.

    G16265584
  2. Isolate the yellow/grey wire (triple twisted wire; blue arrow, figure 2) in the left bundle.

Isolate the yellow/purple wire in the right bundle (black arrow, Figure 2).

Cut the yellow/grey wire at the blue arrow and unravel it in the direction of the plenum chamber up to the red arrow.

Cut the yellow/purple wire at the black arrow.

    G16265585
  3. Using wire harness repair set VAS 1978 B  , perform the following:

Connect the untwisted yellow/grey wire (plenum chamber side) from the left bundle to the yellow/purple wire in the right bundle (engine side).

Connect the remaining yellow/purple wire (plenum side) to the yellow/grey wire (engine side).

    G16265586
  4. Clear DTCs and recheck functionality. If ok, wrap the wiring harness in adhesive tape N 10729002  and reassemble the vehicle.
