CONDITION
Customer statement:
- A noise (rattling) can be heard from inside the Audi virtual cockpit. This rattling noise can also be heard when the vehicle is stationary and occurs at high temperatures .
Workshop findings:
- The noise (rattling) can also be heard clearly from the Audi virtual cockpit when the vehicle is stationary. The noise only occurs when there are high temperatures inside the dash panel. The noise disappears when the connector for the Audi virtual cockpit is unplugged.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND 1
High temperatures in the dash panel, such as those which can occur in summer when the vehicle is subjected to direct sunlight, or when the vehicle is in use, can cause the temperature in the dash panel and Audi virtual cockpit to rise.
When a temperature of 70°C is reached inside the Audi virtual cockpit, the fan installed in the Audi virtual cockpit starts running to prevent the assembly from overheating.
The noise (rattling) is caused by an incorrectly routed cable coming into contact with the fan blades.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Optimized monitoring of routing of connecting cable for fan in Audi virtual cockpit was implemented on 01/13/2025 (production date of Audi virtual cockpit).
