CONDITION

Customer states:

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Massive  water ingress into the horn (steam jet pointed directly  at it) impairs the function of the horn's membrane.

PRODUCTION SOLUTION

Not applicable.

SERVICE

The horn must be connected to the bracket and must not touch other components.

If the horn is touching other components, create clearance first and then check its function.

Try to remove any water from the horn by operating it several times (approx. three times for 5 seconds).

If the complaint persists after this check, remove the affected horn from the bracket.

Then turn the horn so that the opening of the horn funnel (see red mark on illustration) points to the floor and the water can drain.

G16543716

Shaking the horn slightly helps the water to drain quickly.

Do not open/disassemble the horn to dry it, as doing so may damage the seals and cause water to enter the electronics.

Over time, this will cause the horn to fail.

After the water has been removed from the horn, it must be refitted on the bracket.

Operate the horn for approx. 5 seconds three times in a row.

Wait approx. half an hour and press the horn again.

If the complaint persists, replace the affected  horn.
