CONDITION
Customer states:
Creaking/squeaking noises from area of seat frame.
Workshop findings:
The complaint can be reproduced in the workshop.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND 1
Due to production-related tolerances, the shielding plate may come into contact with the toothed segment of the height adjuster.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Gradual optimization in production from approx. week 48/2024.
SERVICE
The issue can be remedied by bending and greasing the affected area slightly, as shown in the images below (Figures 1, 2).
First remove the outer seat frame trim on the side as specified in the Workshop Manual.
The shielding plate must then be pressed away slightly to prevent it from making contact with the toothed segment. This can be done carefully e.g. with a screwdriver.
Proceed as follows: Insert the flat-bladed screwdriver between the two pieces of metal (Figure 2; refer to yellow arrow) and rotate it carefully to press the shielding plate in the direction of the blue arrow (Figure 2).
The seat's height adjuster must be moved into its lowest position.
A small brush or injector can be used to apply lithium grease (G 052150A2) through the hole in the shielding plate (Figure 3; refer to red arrow). If the noise insulation set from BECHEM is available in the workshop, the grease included in this set (BERULUB XP 746) may also be used.
After this, the seat height adjuster should be moved multiple times from the upper stop to the lower stop and back.
To ensure that the grease is evenly distributed, the entire procedure must be repeated twice.
In addition to this, the end stops on the seat rail should be greased (Figure 4).
When billing, please always attach a video which clearly shows the complaint to Doc-It. To ensure a reference to the vehicle, the video must include the VIN number and the date. Please ensure that the video documentation does not show any persons and/or faces, vehicle registration numbers (license plates) or customer data.
