Undamaged Rear Window, Removing, A5 SPORTBACK

• Pay attention to the repair information. Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .
• To complete the procedure, a second technician is required to be at the following position. Refer to UNDAMAGED REAR WINDOW, REMOVING, A5 SPORTBACK - Lift the rear window with two suction lifters from the window opening. .
• Required Tools and Materials for Removal and Installation. Refer to REQUIRED TOOLS AND MATERIALS FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

Procedure 

-- Remove the rear lid upper trim panel. Refer to REAR LID UPPER TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the connectors and secure to the window glass using adhesive tape -arrows-.

-- Insert the : VAS861001/1A  in the piercing awl -1-.

TIP:

To prevent any damage, cover the area where the piercing awl comes out at the rear lid with adhesive tape.

-- Push the piercing awl at the lower left on the rear window from the inside outward through the adhesive bead -arrow- and perform the separation cut outward.

-- Place the : VAS861001/1A  clockwise all around under the rear window.

-- Secure the other end of the : VAS861001/1A  on the mount -arrow- for the gas-filled strut or rear lid unlock motor.

-- Secure the removal device -1- on the upper left of the inside of the window.

-- Push the inner end of the : VAS861001/1A  in the reel device -arrow-.

-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.

-- Push in the cutting guard -2- from the : VAS861001A  to the guide of the : VAS861001/1A  between the window frame and the rear window.

-- Cut free in the left area of the rear window.

-- Offset the removal device -1- to the right upper edge of the rear window.

-- Cut free in the upper area of the rear window. The locating pins are cut at the same time.

-- Offset the removal device -1- to the right lower edge of the rear window.

-- Push in the cutting guard -2- from the : VAS861001A  to the guide of the : VAS861001/1A  between the window frame and the rear window.

-- Cut free in the right area of the rear window. The locating pins are cut at the same time.
