Glass Trim, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Open the glass panel.
-- Push the sealing lip on the windshield cover profile with the cut out protection -1- from the :VAS861001A as far as possible downward in direction of -arrow-.
Risk of injury to the hands and eyes from glass fragments.
Getting cut is possible.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Wear safety gloves.
-- Guide the :VAS861001/1A around the glass panel and let both ends -arrows- go over the glass panel on the lower right side.
-- Secure the removal tool with the reel device -2- and :VAG1344 on the windshield.
-- Secure the outer end of the :VAS861001/1A to the :VAG1344 and the inner end to the removal device.
-- To guide the cord better, place the trim wedge -1- from the :VAS861001A underneath it.
-- Cut free the glass trim as far as possible.
TIP:
If there is difficulty cutting through the adhesive bead, heat up the glass trim in this area using the :VAS1978/14A . Protect adjacent components from the temperature effects during this and note their permitted temperatures.
-- Move the tools in the direction of the center of the window glass and cut free the remaining section.
-- Remove the glass trim.
