Brake Caliper, Replacing, 1LC/1LD/1LE/1LF/1LH: Installing
Clean bolts before reusing.
Replace the damaged bolts. Refer to the Parts Information.
-- Clean the brake caliper.
-- Install the brake pads.
-- Slide the brake caliper with installed brake pads carefully over the brake rotor.
-- Tighten the brake caliper with bolts -1-.
After installing the brake caliper, check the clip and brake pads for correct seating.
Make sure the brake hose is routed correctly.
Make sure the brake hose is not blocked, bent, twisted or rubbing against the vehicle.
Pay attention that the sealing surfaces for the brake hose on the brake hose and on the brake caliper are clean and free of rust.
-- Install the brake line in the brake caliper to 14 Nm.
-- Insert the brake hose -1- in the bracket -2- and secure using the clamp.
-- Connect the connector -arrow- for the brake pad wear indicator sensor contact to the brake caliper.
-- Remove the :VAG1869/2 .
Only bleed the brakes on the wheel from which the brake caliper was removed and the brake line was loosened. If the brake pedal still feels "soft", completely bleed the brakes.
Pay attention to the bleeding sequence for the fixed caliper. First bleed the outer then the inner bleed screw.
-- Bleed the brakes. Refer to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, BLEEDING .
Pay attention to the bleeding sequence.
Risk of accident!
- With the vehicle stationary, firmly press the brake pedal several times so that the brake pads in the operating condition properly sit in their respective position.
- Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
-- Check brake fluid level, and fill if necessary.
