Removing the electric A/C compressor (EKK)
NOTE:
DANGER Mortal hazard in the high-voltage system. Mortal hazard if the disconnection from power cannot be verified!
- Make sure that the Check Control message "High-voltage system deactivated" is displayed in the instrument cluster before commencing work.
- Lock the vehicle and block it with high-voltage barrier tape if the disconnection from power cannot be clearly verified.
- Contact Technical Support in all cases where the disconnection from power is not clearly verified.
- A certified qualified electrician 1000 V DC must verify the disconnection from power with measuring devices/measuring procedures.
Preliminary work
- Bring front compartment lid in the SERVICE POSITION .
- Remove right flap in luggage compartment TRIM PANEL .
- De-energize the HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM .
- Disconnect all battery GROUND LEADS .
- Suction the AIR CONDITIONING .
- Remove the hood REAR SEAL .
- Remove the acoustic COVER .
- Remove rear acoustic COVER
- Remove the DME CONTROL UNIT .
- Remove the integrated POWER SUPPLY MODULE (PDM).
- Remove control unit BRACKET .
- Remove RESONATOR .
- Remove the front UNDERBODY PROTECTION/FRONT THRUST FIELD .
- Remove the UNDERBODY PROTECTION of the steering gear and thrust field respectively.
- Drain the coolant from the low-temperature COOLING SYSTEM .
- Connect the coolant line of low-temperature COOLANT CIRCUIT .
- Remove tank VENT VALVE .
- Remove the INTAKE PLENUM .
CAUTION:
Residual pressure in the heating and air conditioning system.

- Wear safety goggles and protective gloves when disconnecting the refrigerant line.
- Close the refrigerant lines with seal plugs.
- Remove coolant hoses (1) from the holder (2).
- Remove the holder (2).
- Open the holder (arrow) and remove the coolant hose (1).
- Release the screw (2).
- Release the screw (3).
- Unlock and disconnect the high-voltage connector (4).
- Set the high-voltage cable (5) aside.
- Loosen screw (1).
- Set aside the vacuum line (2).
- Loosen screws (1).
- Remove the refrigerant lines (2) and set them aside.
- Unlock and disconnect connector (3).
- Loosen screws (1).
- Feed out electric A/C compressor (EKK) (2) upward and remove it.
