Removing the electrical steering column
WARNING:

- All work on pyrotechnic parts may be carried out by technically experienced and appropriately trained personnel only.
- Replace any damaged part or ones that have been dropped.

Preliminary work
- ADJUST the steering column position.
- DEACTIVATE the 48 v electrical system.
- Disconnect all battery GROUND LEADS .
- Remove the steering wheel or sports steering wheel AIRBAG UNIT .
- Remove STEERING WHEEL .
- Remove steering upper section column SHROUD .
- Remove lower part of steering column SHROUD .
- Remove the steering column SWITCH CLUSTER (SZL).
- Remove the pedal mechanism TRIM PANEL .
- Remove KNEE AIRBAG .
- Remove steering column lower STEERING SHAFT .
NOTE:
To provide a better overview:
Schematic diagram with partially hidden components.
- Disconnect cable (1) from the steering column.
- Unlock and disconnect plug connections (2).
- Release nuts (1) on the steering column with standard tools (2).NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION Secure component against falling.
- Loosen nuts (1).
- Carefully remove the steering column towards the top.
