Adjusting the front radar sensor (FRS)

Notes on the adjustment of the ACC sensor are a fundamental requirement for these repair instructions and must be complied with at all times.

NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
If there is a "Sensor misadjusted" fault memory entry and a correct sensor alignment using the adjustment screw is not possible, there is a suspicion of front impact damage.
In this case, the vehicle must be carefully inspected for damage. If necessary, damaged parts must be replaced. Then adjust the ACC sensor again.
A damaged/bent holder indicates a mechanical misuse of the vehicle and will not be considered to be a warranty case.
If there is a "Sensor misadjusted" fault memory entry and a correct sensor alignment using the adjustment screw is not possible, there is a suspicion of front impact damage.
In this case, the vehicle must be carefully inspected for damage. If necessary, damaged parts must be replaced. Then adjust the ACC sensor again.
A damaged/bent holder indicates a mechanical misuse of the vehicle and will not be considered to be a warranty case.
Check vehicle and components for damage
Check
- In the visible areas, perform visual inspection for:
- damage
- deformation

» Damage or deformation.
Measure
- Identify damaged, deformed vehicle parts and replace.
Result
» No damage or deformation
Measure
- Adjust front radar sensor (FRS).
- Stage special tools 0 442 898 and 2 338 466.
- Set up the special tool as per provided operating instructions.
- Connect diagnostic system.
- Service functions
- Driver assistance
- Front radar sensor (FRS)
- Commissioning the front radar sensor (FRS)
NOTE: Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details. - To adjust the front radar sensor (FRS), twist screw (1) using the standard tool.
Standard tools:
Screwdriver for hexagon socket SW3
Screwdriver for hexaqon socket SW3
Screwdriver for hexagon socket SW3
(Shaft length> 90mm)
