Functional test of the parking brake on the roller test stand
Prerequisite
Check tires for damage. Check tire tread. Check the tire pressure. The brakes must be at normal operating temperature. To that end, warm up and dry off the brake discs by braking the vehicle a few times. Only brake test stands with test RPM of 2.5-6 km/h may be used.
Brake test of the parking brake on the brake test stand
- Position the vehicle with its rear axle on the brake test stand.
- Position the selector lever in selector lever position N (neutral).
- Run engine at idle speed.
The brake test stand starts automatically.
The control unit runs a plausibility check (comparison of wheel RPM) to identify within a few seconds that a vehicle is on the brake test stand and changes to brake test stand mode.
If brake test stand mode has been activated and the EMF actuators are open, the indicator light for the electromechanical parking brake (EMF) flashes slowly.
- Operate the parking brake button: apply brake pads
When brake test stand mode is active and the EMF actuators have been partly applied, the indicator light for the electromechanical parking brake (EMF) flashes quickly.
- Operating the parking brake button briefly several times: The brake force is increased until the maximum brake force is reached and if necessary, forces the vehicle out of the brake test stand.
- Read the maximum brake forces on the left and right.
- If necessary, release the parking brake button (1).
This releases the parking brake.
- Shift the vehicle from the brake test stand.
Brake test stand mode is automatically quit upon driving off the brake test stand.
