Remove left high pressure pump

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

- When working on the fuel system, make sure the workstation has sufficient ventilation, e.g., by means of extraction.
- Tightly seal off open lines and connections; collect any leakage fuel directly at the point of exit.
- No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.

- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.

- Adhere to the utmost cleanliness.
- Protect components from contamination e.g. by covering.
- Close off line connections with seal plugs.

- Ensure that the high pressure pump connector (1) is not confused with the intake air temperature sensor connector.
- If there are no colored marks (3) on the plug connections of the high pressure pump: Attach the marks.
If necessary, identify the connector using the wiring diagram by means of cable colors in area (2).
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Ensure that the intake air temperature sensor connector (1) is not confused with the high pressure pump connector.
- If necessary, identify the connector using the wiring diagram by means of cable colors in area (2).
- Loosen nut (1).
- Release the screws (1) on high pressure pump (2).
- Turn the high pressure pump (1) anti-clockwise and remove it.
