Removing the gasoline particulate filter or bottom catalytic converter for cylinders 1 through 4

WARNING: Hot surfaces. 
Risk of burning! 
  • Perform all work only on components that have cooled down.
WARNING: Vehicle may slip off the vehicle hoist if the vehicle hoist is handled incorrectly. 
Danger! Immobilization period-threatening injuries! 
CAUTION: Component with heavy weight. 
Injury hazard! 
  • Note component's center of gravity.
  • Support component using a jack.
  • Secure component against falling off the jack.
NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
Damage to the gasoline particulate filter. 
Forcibly removing, installing or dropping the gasoline particulate filter down will damage it. 
  • Remove and install the gasoline particulate filter without damaging it and without applying external force.
  • Avoid impacts/knocks to the gasoline particulate filter (e.g. by tools, falling down, hard contact with base).
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
After exchanging the gasoline particulate filter, and before delivering the vehicle to the customer, the registration of the gasoline particulate filter must  be carried out!

Preliminary work 

WARNING: Hot exhaust system. 
Risk of burning! 
  • Any work must exclusively be carried out with an exhaust system that has cooled down.
NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
Damage to the gasoline particulate filter. 
Forcibly removing, installing or dropping the gasoline particulate filter down will damage it. 
  • Remove and install the gasoline particulate filter without damaging it and without applying external force.
  • Avoid impacts/knocks to the gasoline particulate filter (e.g. by tools, falling down, hard contact with base).
