Preparing oxygen sensor

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Grease the threads of new oxygen sensors thinly and evenly.
For oxygen sensors that are reused, the following should be observed:
Thinly and evenly grease the oxygen sensor on the thread only. Do not clean the part of the oxygen sensor that does not protrude into the exhaust line (sensor ceramics) and do not grease.

Prepare the oxygen sensor.
Do not damage the sensor ceramics.

NOTE: The cable of the oxygen sensor monitor is gray. The installation location of the oxygen sensor monitor is behind the catalytic converter.
Position the oxygen sensor monitor (1).

Tighten the oxygen sensor monitor (1) with the special tools 0 493 751 (11 9 150) and 0 491 075 (11 7 030) .

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

Oxygen sensor monitor
M18x1.5	Tightening torque	50 Nm

Connect the connector (1) and clip into carrier plate.

Fasten the cable to the power distribution of the front positive battery cable.

Feed in the accompanying cable and tighten the nut (1).

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

Auxiliary terminal for jump starting
Flange nut M8	Tightening torque	19 Nm

Feed in the accompanying cable and tighten the nut (2).

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

Positive battery cable
Positive pole screw	tightening torque	15 Nm

Feed in the cover (1) in a downwards direction.
Check the detents (2) are seated correctly.

Fasten the heat shield (1) to the side member.

Position the heat shield (3).

Tighten nut (1).

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

Heat shield to underbody
Screws and nuts	Tightening torque	3 Nm

Tighten the screws (2).

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

Heat shield to underbody
Screws and nuts	Tightening torque	3 Nm

Disconnecting all battery ground leads
