Replacing the foam cushion for the seat cushion surface of front seat

Prerequisite

Thigh support is adjusted fully forwards.

Preliminary works

Remove front SEAT .
Remove front seat outer COVER .
Remove seat adjustment OPERATING UNIT .
Remove the front seat outer cover SUPPORT .
Remove front seat inner COVER .
Remove the front seat cushion seat COVER
Remove the front seat, seat COVER .

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Only US/Canadian version of front passenger seat with seat occupancy mat (CIS):
The seat occupancy mat is bonded to the entire surface of the upholstery and can only be replaced together with the upholstery.
If the seat occupancy mat or upholstery is defective, both parts must always be replaced together.
Full operability can only be guaranteed with the Original BMW replacement part.
After the installation of the seat cover, the seat occupancy mat must be approved by the BMW programing system via the appropriate service function using an appropriate scan tool.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The heating mat is bonded to the foam pad and cannot be disassembled without damaging it.
When replacing, new heating mat must always be fitted with new foam pads.

Removing the fan for the seat cushion surface on the front seat

Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1).

Push the heating mat (1) and the climate-control mat (2) to the side.
Unclip the fan (3).
Replace the foam padding, heating mat and climate-control mat, if necessary.
Parts: Foam padding, heating mat and climate-control mat, if necessary

The components are bonded together and cannot be disassembled without damaging them.

Clip in the disassembled fan (1) to the new foam padding (2).

Replacing the sensor mat for seat occupancy detection of the front passenger seat

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Only for front passenger seat in EU/Chinese/Japanese version with a bonded seat occupancy mat
The seat occupancy mat is bonded to the foam pad and cannot be disassembled without damaging it.
When replacing, a new seat occupancy mat must always be fitted with a new foam pad.
Replace the seat occupancy mat (1).
Parts: Seat occupancy mat
Position the seat occupancy mat (1) on the foam cushion (2) and align it.
Bond the seat occupancy mat (1).

Equipment specification with seat climate control
If necessary, trim the climate-control mat (1) to the right size to match the foam padding (2).

Fix the climate-control mat (1) onto the Velero fasteners (3).

Position the heating mat (1) on the foam padding and align.

Bond the heating mat (1) to the foam padding in the areas (2).

Feed the wiring harness into the foam padding.
