Inner Output Shaft Roller Bearing, Removing, Vehicles with Self-Locking Center Differential

-- Remove the hydraulic pressure reservoir. Refer to GEAR ACTUATOR MODULE AND HYDRAULIC PRESSURE RESERVOIR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - Vehicles with Self-Locking Center Differential .

-- Slide off the output gear of the spur gear unit from the pinion. Refer to Figure.

-- Remove both, the upper and lower needle bearings -arrow-.

-- Spread apart the circlip -1- using the Circlip Pliers: VAS 211 009  -2-.

-- Pry out the inner output shaft -1- using the Puller: VW637/2  -2-.

-- Warm up the clutch housing in the are of the bearing seat -arrow- all around to approximately 80 °C (176 °F), using the Hot Air Blower.

-- Spread apart the circlip -1- using the Circlip Pliers: VAS 211 009  -2-.

-- Insert the oil guide shell -1-.

-- Insert the inner output shaft with the roller bearing -1- into the clutch housing.

-- Loosen and remove using the Circlip Pliers: VAS 211 009  -2-.

-- Check the correct installation position of the inner output shaft with the roller bearing -1- in the clutch housing.

• The roller bearing -4- has to end flush -arrow- in the clutch housing.
• The circlip -3- must not be jammed distorted in the clutch housing.
