SUBFRAME, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Secure the subframe. Refer to SUBFRAME, SECURING .

-- Remove the left and right rear brake caliper. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the left and right connector -arrow- from the rear level control system sensor and free up the wire.

-- Disconnect the connector -1- for the Tire Pressure Monitoring Control Module -J502- and free up the wire.

Equipment Versions with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC):

-- Bleed the DRC system (Dynamic Ride Control). Refer to DYNAMIC RIDE CONTROL (DRC), DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove the union bolt -2- and free up the hose line -1-.

-- Disconnect the left and right connector -2- for the speed sensor.

NOTE:

Ignore item -1-.

AWD

-- Disconnect the left and right connector -1- for the speed sensor.

NOTE:

Ignore item -2-.

-- Remove the drive axle from the rear final drive and tie it up. Refer to the appropriate service information .

Final Drive 0D3 "Quattro Sport" :

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-, and remove the bracket -1- from the rear final drive.

-- Label and disconnect the connectors -2- for the oil pressure/temperature sensor and at the clutch valves.

-- Disconnect the connector -4- at the All Wheel Drive Pump -V415-.

-- Unclip the wiring harness -3- from the final drive -5, 6 and 7- and tie it up.

Final Drive 0B0 "Quattro Ultra" :

-- Disconnect the connectors -1 and 2-.

-- Remove the wiring guide from the final drive and free up the wire.

-- Equipped on some models: disconnect the connector -1-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- on the upper shock absorber fastener.

-- Remove the left and right bolt -arrow- and free up the bracket -1- with the wires.

-- Lower the subframe with the :VAS6931 .

NOTE:

Pay attention to the clearance to the surrounding components when lowering the subframe.
