Removing the radial shaft seal for the torque converter (GA8HP50Z, GA8HP51Z)

Preliminary work

Deactivate the 48 v ELECTRICAL SYSTEM .
Disconnect all battery GROUND LEADS .
If the active stabilizer is installed: remove fan COWL .
Remove rear UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
Remove the center UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
Remove the transmission side UNDERBODY PLANKING
Remove STARTER MOTOR .
Remove the tunnel connecting SUPPORT .
If installed: remove the right and left TORSION STRUT where required.
Remove complete EXHAUST SYSTEM .
Remove the HEAT SHIELDS .
Remove the RETAINING PLATES
Remove transmission CROSS-MEMBER .
Partially loosen the PROP SHAFT
Remove AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (GA8HP51Z).
Remove TORQUE CONVERTER

Contact with fluids harmful to health!

Note and follow safety instructions on containers.
Conduct all work in appropriate personal protective equipment only.

NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the transmission.
Damage to the transmission due to unapproved transmission oil.

Use only the approved TRANSMISSION OIL .
Check the transmission OIL LEVEL after completing the repair.

Fasten the transmission using special tools 0 495 446 (24 0 200) and 2 449 398 onto the special tool 0 495 187 (00 2 300).

Pull out the radial shaft seal (1) with the special tools 0 496 716 (24 1 420) and 0 493 321 (13 5 250) in arrow direction.
