Removing the radial shaft seal for selector shaft (GA8HP50Z, GA8HP51Z, GA8HP75Z, GA8HP76Z, GA8HP75HZ, GA8HP95Z)
Preliminary work
- Deactivate the 48 v ELECTRICAL SYSTEM .
- Disconnect all battery GROUND LEADS .
- Remove rear UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Remove the transmission side UNDERBODY PLANKING
- Remove transmission CROSS-MEMBER .
- Remove the tunnel CONNECTING SUPPORT .
- If installed: remove the right and left TORSION STRUT where required.
- Remove the HEAT SHIELDS .
- Remove the RETAINING PLATES
- Partially loosen the PROP SHAFT
- Remove the TRANSFER BOX (ATC 13-1).
- Remove the front axle transmission front PROP SHAFT .
- Remove the transmission OIL PAN (all-wheel drive vehicle) (GA8HP75Z, GA8HP76Z, GA8HP95Z).
- Remove the MECHATRONICS .

NOTE:

Damage to the transmission.
Damage to the transmission due to unapproved transmission oil.
Damage to the transmission.

- Use only the approved TRANSMISSION OIL .
- Check the transmission OIL LEVEL after completing the repair.
- Using a suitable tool, drive clamping sleeve (1) out of selector shaft.
The return spring is under tension.
- Pull selector shaft (1) from housing in the direction of the arrow.
- Screw in special tool 0 496 718 (24 5 367)
until it is firmly connected with radial shaft seal.
- Screw the special tool 0 491 783 (24 5 362) onto the special tool 0 496 718 (24 5 367) and tighten it down.
- Pull the radial shaft seal out of the transmission housing.
