Installing the belt tensioner of the starter motor generator
CAUTION:
Component with preload.
Injury hazard!
Injury hazard!
- Reduce preload as far as possible before disassembly. Relieve component.
- Feed in the belt tensioner (1) and position.
The belt tensioner (1) must be correctly positioned in marked area (2) as shown.
- Tighten the screws (3).
TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

- Twist the belt tensioner (1) in arrow direction by 180°.
- Tighten the screws (1) on the belt tensioner (2).

Check
- Check if the belt tensioner (1) is correctly installed in the marked area (2).

» Belt tensioner (1) is correctly installed.
Measure
- No measures required.

- Check if the belt tensioner (1) is correctly installed in the marked area (2).

» Belt tensioner (1) is not installed correctly.
Measure
- Remove the belt tensioner (1) and install correctly .
- Feed the special tool 0 496 268 (11 0 390)
onto the belt tensioner and install it.
- Increase the preload on the belt tensioner using conventional tools (1) in arrow direction.
- Feed the special tool 0 496 268 (11 0 390)
onto the belt tensioner and install it.
- Feed out the special tool 0 496 268 (11 0 390)
on the belt tensioner and remove.
