The sealing surfaces must be free from oils, grease and cleaning agents. - Remove sealing residue in this area (1) using special tool 0495 102 (11 4 470).
- Clean sealing surface (1) with the brake cleaner.

Brake cleaner 2.0 500ml, Spray can 83192365214 20, Canister 83192365215 - Check the fitting sleeves (2) for a correct fit and damage, replace if necessary.

The application time of the liquid sealing compound can be at a maximum of 10 min.Start-up of the assembly is not possible until 25 minutes after the application time.
Non-observance can lead to leaks in the assembly.
- Apply liquid sealing compound with a sealing bead thickness of between 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm in these areas (1).
- Install special tool 0496 137 (11 8 815)
on the crankshaft.
- Carefully mount the timing case cover and position it correctly at the fitting sleeves.
- Replace screws (1) to (11).

Rear timing case cover to crankcase M6 x 31 Replace screws. Jointing torque
Angle of rotation8 Nm
90° - Connect connectors (1) and lock.
